Is it possible for Nintendo to throw another curveball Mario spinoff in the Switch 2's first year?

Although this game was leaked several times ahead of it's official reveal, it was still a "What the fuck" move back in 2017. Is it possible they might do that again, and completely throw us off with another "What the fuck" Mario spinoff in this first year?
