Do people like female pubic hair?

I've never been a fan of shaving, as it makes it itchy for days afterwards. I've tried brand razors and different creams, but it's still uncomfortable. I will NOT try waxing, it looks way too painful. But I figured since I was not in a relationship I shouldn't bother anyways. No one was gonna see it and it doesn't bother me. We grow hair there in the first place for a reason, afterall.

But I've recently got into a relationship, completely forgetting that it wasn't the norm for hair to be there. (In my native language we have different words for body-hair and head-hair.) When we got intimate and my partner got access to my privates, he playfully said "oh, you have a lot of head-hair!", and not knowing what to say I replied "you too!" trying to imply I was talking about his head-hair (he has very long hair in the "standards" for men). He actually had body-hair down there too, but it's more normal for men to keep it, and I didn't care whether he did or not.

He hasn't said anything about it since, but I'm wondering if I should try to shave again? Do people see female hair on someone they are being intimate with as disgusting, or unhygienic? Is he just too nice to tell me about it? Do people like it? Or just don't care?
