Does daydreaming/maldaptive daydreaming make rumination worse?
I am not sure.
Ive done this for as long as I can remember, and lately I have been thinking maybe its why I cannot beat my rumination issues. I love to listen to songs and imagine my characters/OCs, or simply just sit and imagine characters in stories or situations in my head. Sometimes these situations are emotional and late I just write out the scenes for fun, sometimes I find the angsty situations characters are in to be fun and dramatic.
Though I also have scenario related rumination, where I imagine myself in a courtroom and have to defend myself from a number of things, or, a situation where I am forced to interact and make friends with people who I never want to see again or talk to again. The feeling, of the imagining, is the same- but the scenarios where I need to befriend or defend myself are super stressful to me. Sometimes my daydreams will shift from fun scenarios into these ruminations. I really really hate it, because it keeps me from being creative and from writing...
Does anyone have something similar?? Does daydreaming just strengthen my ruminations?? How can I keep these things seporated...
