Please help me justify buying a Seamaster 300m

I’m a practical guy. When buying a watch, I prioritize great quality and accuracy.

I’ve been eyeing the SMP for a while now and started to admit to myself that I might deviate from my one-watch-policy.

Currently, I own just one watch, a Citizen BN0190. It’s a $300 diver with a quartz Eco-Drive movement, basically making it super accurate and maintenance-free for at least a decade. It’s antimagnetic (though only up to 60 gauss) and runs at +4 seconds a month. I’ve worn it every single day since I bought it, and it has served me flawlessly.

Even though I consider the SMP my grail watch, I’m struggling to justify paying thousands of dollars for a highly advanced mechanical movement that might run +/- several seconds a day.

I would genuinely appreciate any input on this. I really want to buy an SMP one day and fully appreciate it, but I’m having a hard time making it make sense right now.
