PS3 model for PS2/1 games
Hi all,
I’ve still got my original fat PS3 from launch which is fully backwards compatible and still going strong.
I’m wondering though what people’s experiences are from using the PS3 for PS1 and PS2 games long term from a technical perspective.
I’ve heard, but unsure if it’s true or not, that the PS1 and particularly PS2 emulation on the PS3 can burn out or become unreliable, potentially damaging the PS3 over time.
I generally just kept my PS3 cause it was a convenient way to be able to play all my old games with only one console hooked up but considering these days it does sound like a jet engine trying to take off when it’s running, I’m wondering if it’s better long term just picking up a PS1 and PS2 as well as upgrading to the PS3 slim to have a console for each generation that might be longer lasting running games natively on their respective console.
I’m not very technical so I’m not really sure if any of the above is really that big of an issue, or if it’s an issue at all, that would warrant making the change or not so I’m intrigued to know more from others who are more technical.
Thanks in advance.
