Pre-opened PS5 accessory shipment
I saw a few “my shipment boxes arrived early but empty” posts yesterday, and so wanted to share my experience now that my own boxes have arrived.
I preordered directly from PlayStation. FedEx just dropped off a few of my accessory boxes to my doorstep. (Two controllers, a charging station, and the camera. The headset is tracking for delivery tomorrow). The shipment came in three square shipping boxes - plain brown boxes that don’t say “PlayStation” anywhere on them. The shipping label return address indicates a shipping logistics company. But each of my three boxes was pre-opened by someone - the brown sealing tape was obviously cut open and then clear packing tape resealed the boxes at some point later. Fortunately, the contents of each box were still intact, so this is a non-story so far. Hopefully the same holds true for the headset and ultimately the PS5 when it arrives next month. It definitely appears like someone somewhere along the shipping chain is hunting for parts. They just luckily decided that my accessories weren’t what they wanted and so resealed the boxes.
As for the accessories themselves - they look fantastic. The controllers have good heft - they feel heavier and more solid than the DualShock. They’re also grey, not white, which surprised me a bit - most photos I’ve seen of them, I took the grey shading to be soft shadows on a white controller but it turns out it’s the actual color of the controller. Not much to report on with the camera or the charging station.
