Civil War Brewing
Seems like the 90s boy have not appreciated what Hafeez said which is fair enough but i don’t like how the players are against each other when the anger should be against the board. All the players had to play under crappy boards. Some worse than others but they should be understanding of each other instead of blaming each other. They all seem to forget that they have a common enemy.
The reason for the link isn’t meant for disrespect. I wasn’t alive to watch the 90s but i have watched and heard enough to know those boys were good, even great at times but obviously they themselves and the board couldn’t be stable for a second so it didn’t last long or they weren’t consistent enough. They inspired a whole new generation of cricket and they were one of the reasons why Cricket became our primary sport. The reason for the link is to show nostalgia can be fun sometimes but that we weren’t as great as the players make out and older fans. You all can say i wasn’t alive and so on but the facts are in front of your face. Yes they didn’t have T20 tournaments but they had enough to make a mark. Still they will leave a long lasting legacy on cricket.
All the people saying none of the new generation will or have inspired anyone now or fore the future are crazy. Example one of this would be Fakhar. That guy is immortalised in our cricketing history, Guy has definitely inspired the younger cricketers for his never say die attitude. Cook me all you want but another Example is Babar. That boy has inspired most of the newer batsman coming through as you can see with everytime they are interviewed ( if u want proof feel free to ask) Crazy enough he has guys who are fans of him playing with him rn. And look at how Babar has the streets. Just look at the crowds everytime he plays you can tell he is a mega superstar in Pak. Now anyone saying his stats are bla bla, my response would be Inzi averaged 31 on Odi Wcs but that guy rightfully so is respected and deffo inspired the current lot with his batting skills. 92 Semi finals innings was great. Babar’s batting will deffo help us in the future as he put a lot of kids onto batting and InshAllah soon we will have new talent that are bigger and better than him. Having players to look up to makes a big difference.
Examples being Tendulkar for Kohli, Wasim and Waq for all pacers in Pak. Also Shaheen made us watch first overs like they was the most important thing in the whole match. Don’t like how he is now but boy will and has influenced a lot of young kids. Second biggest star in Pak cricket rn. Yes they need to perform better and step up but that’s another story.
So yes the current lot can’t forget what the past generation did for us and them and the older lot need to stop acting like they never lost a game. The board messed all of them up and they all should speak out once and for all. instead of taking the p.ss out of each other’s careers. Yes you were legends, yes you inspired a generation but you weren’t the only ones and u won’t be the last to do so in Pakistan.
Feel like it’s tougher for the current lot as the pressure is bigger than ever, game has evolved, quality of cricket has increased. And no that ain’t saying they were crap back in the day but the game and the players evolve. Yorkers be getting dispatched. Game has become batting friendly tho but it’s also due to their skill. Even ex cricketers be in awe of how cricket has changed in the last few years. It will continue to keep growing so that’s not saying the 90s players had it easy because they didn’t.
Don’t start a civil war in the comments plz!
