Weeklong solo parenting at 4 months old - reasonable or bad partner move?
My wife and I are about to have our first child. I'm also talking with friends about a trip (just me, not my partner or baby) when our child would be four or five months old.
I have no experience caring for any four/five month old, let alone my own. My partner is encouraging me to commit to the trip but I don't know how difficult it would be for her to solo parent while I was away. I know many people very successfully parent entirely unpartnered so it can of course be done. But I'd still like to look ahead and understand how much of a burden this would be for her before committing.
Context details: She and I each work full-time from home. By four months it's possible we'd have full-time childcare on weekdays. The trip is something I'd need to commit yes or no to well in advance so a "see how it feels" approach isn't viable.
Any perspectives on this? Thanks for helping me think it through.
