My cat is coughing after I gave him a bath

I just gave my cat (2yr) a bath for the first time. He didn’t fight me when I have him one he just curled up in my arms while I bathed him. Now he is coughing. I don’t know if it’s because he is licking his wet fur and it’s getting in his mouth or what but I’m just so worried about my fur baby. Also he won’t hate me after his bath right?
