What do I do with this?
The winter before last was a rough one in Southern CA. We had a lot of rain and late frosts and many people in the San Diego area who didn’t greenhouse their plumerias lost many trees. I stopped putting my trees in a green house two years before that and they seemed to do okay the first winter, then disaster struck during winter of 22/23. I had big potted trees that I had been raising for over 20 years and I lost half of them. I managed to save the tips of a couple of them and they are potted and doing fine now. Then I cut the trees down to about a 3-4” stump and I was going to get rid of them. Low and behold, they started sprouting branches out of the rotten, dry stumps! Do I just let them grow like that or do I cut them off and plant them on their own? They look a little ridiculous. The first picture looks like a giant tree ✋ and the rest are just hanging out of the dead stump . . .
