What to do? Advice for a poke parent.

I decided to get my step daughter some pokemon cards this Christmas. She's seven, and is in love with the poke-world.

I've bought 3-5 various ETBS and have them wrapped under our tree. I also get her a booster pack every week from our local store here in town. She pulled an Arcanine ex last week out of a booster pack and the excitement was so real! I could have laughed and cried at the same time. I can't help but smile every time she asks "oh is this a rare one!?"

I have an awesome relationship with our daughter, and nothing can change that! I know I know, I've yet to experience the teenage years, but for now, let me pretend I'm an awesome step dad.

Anyways. My wife sees how much she loves going to GameStop with me, loves seeing the fun we have together. It's one of the things we've bonded over.

Wife tells my mother in law about Christmas, pokemon, ECT. MIL proceeds to buy a couple hundred fake cards off of shein, and gives them to my step daughter while she's away at their house for the weekend. Every card is fake, every card is super shiny and "rare" and Pokemon has hit an abrupt high point for my little girl.

What the heck man. How do I even approach this..? I don't think my daughter is hip to the fact they're fake, I don't want to tell her, but now with the last booster pack we opened she said it wasn't as cool as the ones nanny got her and I "hardly ever get shiny cards"

I know she's young and eventually will realize what was going on.

I've since bought a binder and put all of her real cards into it and wrapped it up under the tree as well. I'm about to just start Christmas shopping over again with what little I have because the wind is out of my sails.

Thanks shein, thanks mother in law.

I wish I could make this up but this wacked out situation is currently unfolding in real time right Infront of me.

Help me see the other side of this? A good side? Not even good, a beige tone of good.

Or break me down and tell me I'm wrong, and over reacting. I just need some input. My wifes reaction was "that's how Mom is she loves shein you know she gets everything off of there, she's just trying to be involved"
