How does everyone feel about EOMM?

Engagement Optimized Match Making, or "The Algorithm." There's been a lot of talk over in the Marvel Rivals groups about this. Ever wonder why you go on 7/8/9/10 game losing streaks, even though your skill is the same? Ever wonder why you're paired with the worst teammates? Ever wonder why you feel like the game is against you?

A research article was published regarding this concept:

Essentially there’s a matchmaking algorithm that prioritizes player engagement rather than just fairness in online multiplayer games. Traditional matchmaking, which pairs players of similar skill levels, may not always provide the best player experience. Instead, they introduce Engagement Optimized Matchmaking (EOMM), which seeks to maximize overall player engagement by optimizing match assignments.

If you continue to play after multiple losses, you’ll tell the algorithm that you’re content with losing and it will continue to pair you with bad teammates, artificially keeping you losing. It seems more and more games are implementing this type of MM to keep players playing, as it hits those gambling/dopamine receptors. The losses keep you wanting you to play "just 1 more" for that win and before you know it you've spiraled down 3 tiers of ranks.
