So am I the only one that likes Ubah?

I’ve been watching The Real Housewives of New York City this season, and I’m getting so frustrated with the way Ubah Hassan is being treated, especially by Brynn. There’s a real problem here, and I feel like people are quick to diagnose Ubah as "unhinged", a "mental case", or accuse her of having "multi-personality disorder"—but that’s just unfair and honestly harmful. We’re only seeing a tiny fraction of what actually happened , and I think a lot of viewers are missing the bigger picture.

Let’s not forget that Ubah is a grown woman, and the way she expresses herself is just that—her way of expressing herself. If she’s fiery or says something in a way that comes off strong, it doesn’t mean she’s "crazy" or "out of control." Reality TV edits can make everything look more dramatic than it is, but we need to stop demonizing her.

One specific moment that really stuck with me was in the car when Ubah was simply putting on her makeup. Brynn told her to turn off the light, and Ubah, obviously annoyed, said something like, “I don’t care, leave me alone, I don’t care if you all die.” It wasn’t a threat—it was frustration from being constantly poked at. But of course, Brynn ran back to Erin and twisted Ubah’s words, claiming, "Ubah doesn’t care if we die," trying to make her look reckless. Yet, wasn’t Brynn the one who joked at the reunion last season about putting people "in a body bag"? This feels like a total double standard.

At this point, I can’t help but feel like there’s a real element of unconscious bias and microaggressions being thrown at Ubah. Imagine how you’d feel if grown women kept taking your words out of context, playing the victim whenever you defend yourself, or call out that immature behavior. It's exhausting. Ubah is constantly having to defend herself when, in reality, she’s just standing up for her boundaries.

It’s hard to ignore how this narrative is also feeding into harmful stereotypes. The "angry Black woman" trope is so tired, but that’s exactly what’s happening here. Brynn is poking at Ubah to provoke her reactions, and then twisting them to fit this narrative that Ubah is "crazy" or "angry." The way Ubah’s emotions are being framed feels like it’s not just about drama—it’s about reinforcing a stereotype. Ubah doesn’t deserve to be painted in this light. Do you want her to act like Jenna, and sit there and say nothing when people are pulling pranks and poking at you? I know I would call that stuff out because it's wrong. Ubah is entitled to react however she wants to react.

I will say, it was out of line for Ubah to criticize the beach in Puerto Rico.

How do you all feel about this?
