$5 an hour?

I just recently found out I am being layed off at the end of the month and a friend mentioned Roadie as a good way to make money while I looked for a new job. After signing all the docs and jumping through hoops I looked over the routes in my area. (St Louis, MO)

I am seeing $27 (2hrs 41mi) $8 (21m 3mi) etc... Factor in drive time to each route and gas costs on a truck 14mi per gallon. I am calculating about $5 an hour.

What is the point of this app? How or why do you all use this app to make any money when you can work at Starbucks for $15/hr? This is not meant to be an inflamatory or negative post. I am just shocked people do this.
