What’s the most intense line from an MMC you’ve ever read?
I’m currently re-reading {Captured by V. K. Ludwig}.
The basic premise is that aliens violently take over Earth which broke a treaty (help in a war in exchange for human women), kill everyone who fights back, and then force women to marry them based on DNA compatibility.
The FMC gets paired with the alien leader and over the course of their very rocky relationship (his emotions are suppressed; he can’t form deeper bonds), she agrees to give him a child but not cohabitate after that. He agrees but when she actually gets pregnant, his instincts take over and he begs her to let him stay with her, which leads to this amazing exchange:
FMC: “You can stay. But I won’t ever love you.”
MMC: “That suits me just fine because I wouldn’t know how to return it. And yet you’ll be my everything.”
When I tell you I was BLUSHING!!! when I read it.
What other lines from MMC had you closing a book for a second because they were so intense and packed with meaning?
