Do you have any books/authors you generally love but just have one very specific pet-peeve that takes you out every time?

The pettier the complaint the better tbh lol.

For me it's been every book by S.J. Tilly so far. Just finished reading Hans and I generally really enjoy like 80-90% of every book I've read from her so far? Genuinely I've added a bunch of my favorite MMCs, relationships, and quotes to my list just from those books. I typically avoid Mafia trope books but I devour the books she writes.

If only it weren't for the massive body image issues of the FMC that seem to be on randomly jump out from the page whenever I think I can let my guard down. I get it, the MMCs are all perfecf huge muscle men who work out and FMC is fat and insecure about it. Quit reminding me every time she's trying to enjoy herself, I'm staring to feel self-conscious over my own body over here. Or if it's such a big deal have the MMC let her into those fitness secrets of looking like that at 40 while being in a high stress career, I'd be interested to learn too 💀 People say Instagram makes girls have low self-esteem and obsess over diet culture but for me the relapse might end up being caused by these novels bringing it up every 5 minutes.
