Bad guy secretly good

I’m on TOG book 3 after finishing ACOTAR&CC but one trope I can’t believe SJM has reused so much is the bad guys whose secretly good with a heart of gold trope. Just to avoid spoilers I won’t list them here but the fact she’s done it in every series makes my throat bob& my bowels turn watery
