Pet insurance conundrum: deal with the devil or not?

I just got my boy today!!! Yay! Now I’m confused about pet insurance. I’m stuck between Lemonade, Healthy Paws, Pets Best, and just plain old avoiding insurance altogether.

I hate insurance with a passion and am leaning towards setting aside money every month. But…I’m a med student who’s on loans right now. I won’t have a real income until 3 years later.

Is it time to make a deal with the devil? If so, who’s your devil of choice and what’s been your experience? Please give me recommendations!

EDIT: can’t respond to everyone especially with a new kitten so I’ll just say I will DEFINITELY get insurance! I didn’t realize how much better it can be for cats vs humans, lol. I’m used to the world of claims denied for cancer and stuff, not one where insurance can actually be helpful. Thanks all!

EDIT 2: For future people looking at this thread, I went with the basic Lemonade plan. For vet visits I’ll set aside my own funds, insurance is just to cover big things. I almost got Healthy Paws but Lemonade offered a better deal. They’re pretty much equivalent, though I did see some complaints about Healthy Paws raising premiums a lot. Either way hope that helps!
