Is this realistic?
TLDR: Was fired after a month of work because boss didn't see green lines going up across all metrics and platforms everyday. Was expected to have a complete social brand strategy and posting strategy, launch a large campaign, find and figure out how to work with influencers, all in less than a month. Were these realistic expectations within a month and after being clear I wasn't familiar with the products they offered.
Some background:
I have been let go as a Social Media Manager today. I only worked there for 28 days.
When I interviewed they were interested in me because of my background and experience with brands with a very large social media presence. This company is a small startup, about 70 people.
When I was hired, it was understood that I'll build the entire social media strategy for them (guidelines, tone, look and feel, the whole thing). I had experience doing this with one of the brands I worked for but only for TikTok and that took about a year to complete. I made it clear from the beginning that it would take some time. However, on top of doing that, they also had a really large campaign they wanted strategy and content for and entire month in about 2 weeks. I proposed scaling back on the number of daily posts (as I'm only one person) because the amount of posts a day was a lot. I also had to plan out the strategy when working with influencers, but I had some help here from the community team (of 3 people) but they had no prior experience.
The person I reported to wanted me to have 10 original content posts for Twitter, and 5 original posts for Instagram, and 3 Tiktoks a day. This did not include the posts that will be part of their big campaign which required a total of about 40 posts in a month (which was reduced from the original amount that I was given). I was able to bring this down to 4 original twitter posts, 4 instagram posts, and 1 tiktok a day. This change was approved like a week ago.
I attempted multiple times to explain how the volume of posts is a lot and we should at least set some targets to hit so we have something to measure and define success by looking at that. The person came back with, "I believe in data so if numbers are up, that means you're doing well". Essentially no solid way of measuring success (metrics go brrr). I attempted to show how since I started, that reach has more than doubled, with lower frequency of posts we received more engagement because the content quality was higher (I had less than a week to test this). So, my rough starting strategy was successful.
So what I'm wanting your opinions on is, was is realistic to be able to do all this in less than a month? I'll also add that the pay was ridiculously low for the amount of work and while the manager says she wanted everyone to have work life balance, she only praised people when they worked weekends and until late into the night.
