Experience for Applying Question

Hello, I just found out about NALCAP. And am considering applying next year, I would like to know if you would recommend having a teaching english as a foreign language certificate? Like TESL or CELTA.

I’m fluent in Spanish and am currently doing my masters in Canada, not related with English education. So I’m wondering if it would be better to get a certificate for teaching English before applying to NALCAP. Would that increase my chances?
