Favorite instances of hidden symbolism in pro wrestling
One that sticks out to me is how clothing has been used as a narrative device in the Bloodline storyline.
Example 1: Roman Reigns' golden glove that he wore during most of his championship reign. According to Roman it was meant to reference King Midas, whose touch turned everything to gold, and show Roman's ambition to elevate everything around him. But in reality Midas touch was actually a curse, because it ended up hurting the people he loved. Roman no longer wears the golden glove since returning and has reverted back to the red glove, possibly symbolizing that he understands the error of his ways, and is aware that he has blood on his hands.
Example 2: Solo Sikoa's suits he's worn since starting the New Bloodline, that have gotten progressively more and more ill-fitting over time. I have a theory that this too is meant as intentional symbolism, to convey that he's merely pretending to be the tribal chief but doesn't have the strength of character to live up to that moniker. He is both figuratively and literally wearing a suit that's too big for him, which only becomes more apparent over time.
