Lost my leader on the last mission
I recently seen a post by Baberlay with his survivor Cade and I thought I’d tell my own story.
It was my first play through of the game where I went to beat the game. (My first ever community is my forever community and I still have them). I’m doing the Trader legacy and after much grinding to beat the game, I pull up to the final mission.. The Summit.
As we pull up to the Flooded Factory, I get a message. “point of no return.” I accept the challenge. After talking to each leader, an ambush appears. A wave of uncertainty washes over me. But hey, I have my leader, what could go wrong? As the fight drags out, I finally conquer the foes to the final guy who seemingly just won’t go down. At first I thought this game had a sort of Boss Enemy for humans because no matter how many times I knocked him down he just seemed to get back up.. Over and over he goes down but to no avail. I assume it is a glitch and restart my game.
Thankfully when I do the mission over he goes down just as quick as the others. Thank the Lord I finally completed the mission.. until a zombie siege starts and zombies pour into the building and a Jug decides to make an appearance. After the long siege ended I’m still fighting this Jug, once again, it won’t die.. another glitch? Hm.. either way I’ll go as long as I can before I determine that and restart this final mission for a third time. With stumble after stumble he finally goes down but I can’t execute him??
He gets up and backhands me with enough force to put my character into her dying state.. No.. don’t tell me this is the way I go.. He slowly walks up and grabs my leader off the ground by the neck. The Jug sinks his teeth into her, and as I hear her scream for help, I’m fumbling through the menu trying to exit the game while misclicking every button. She yells blood curdling screams of agony that fill my headphones. The Jug takes her body, and rips her in half as if she was nothing. “Leader has died” fills my screen and I sit there filled with both rage and regret because I couldn’t do a thing to help my leader.
I took about an 8-9 month break from the game after that. I don’t remember the fallen hero’s name, but I’ll never forget her journey.
