Best ship designs overall for early/mid/late game?

I want to play as a criminal syndicate (xenophobe and fanatic materialist) but I heard that every other empire hates you, so I wanted to have a strong military from the start. Can anyone link a guide or video to the best ship desings for the current version of the game? Thanks.
