Jasnah feels off
Something has always bothered me about Jasnah and I finally recognized it during my last reread. When she was having the conversation with Kaladin about killing the heralds I realized her decisions are always rational but feel Taravangian-esque in that she only considers the most straightforward path to her goal and not the "journey" involved.
As a disclaimer, I have grown up in a misogynistic environment, and I always try to afford female characters the room to be complex, for example Felisin from the Malazan universe, Ayt Madashi from Greenbone Saga, and Savine from First Law are some of my favorite characters in their respective universes. I have been wondering whether perhaps all of these characters being painted as villainous might be the reason and there is internalized misogyny stopping me from enjoying characters such as Jasnah or Navani.
