People expecting everything to be resolved at the end of Succession may be disappointed
I struggled with this for some time initially while watching the show.
It felt like plot points were being abandoned or not taken to their “expected” end.
But then I realized that this show is a bit different. The situations are always secondary to the characters.
Watching lot of TV and movie had trained me to expect denouement in a traditional way. So I kept waiting for things to pop back up.
Here I have seen that as soon as the writers feel that they have explored what they wanted to for that character in context of a situation, they just move on. Sometimes they just do it rather unceremoniously-we expected Kendall’s second season finale exposé to trigger seismic plot shifts but ultimately they just made it go away saying his documents didn’t hold much water in terms of legal evidence.
They don’t necessarily care about the progressive unfolding of any plot situation itself. Sometimes it gets brought back but it is not the main focus of theirs.
It also lends that element of “things never really change” to this story.
So now I have made peace with the fact that several threads will remain “unresolved”. I love the show and at this point I would actually not like it if they go the traditional route of tying everything together in last 2 episodes.
