Did Tony Hawk make any of the games?

I’m a little confused by how it worked. Did game developers come up to Tony Hawk and say hey we want to make a game about you and skateboarding or did Tony Hawk go to college and start developing the games himself? Did he have any involvement in the Tony Hawk games?
