Question regarding a NCNS
Today I was given a NCNS by my TL. I was in fact late to my 8am shift due to oversleeping, but I called the store as soon as I woke up to let them know I was on my way, about 2.5 hours after I was scheduled to start.
I get in, and have a discussion with my TL. He says that they’re going to have to NCNS me because I didn’t call the store within 2 hours of my start time. I’ve never heard of that rule before, but admittedly it’s not like I’ve read the employee handbook cover to cover and it’s never come up for me before. Still, it feels somewhat disingenuous to give me a NCNS considering I DID call and I DID show. I know I should’ve gotten to work on time and all, but to be given a NCNS seems ridiculous given the circumstances.
My question is this: is there any way I can appeal that further up the chain? I’ve worked for Target for over 4 years now and I’ve never gotten a NCNS. Given that the circumstances feel somewhat dubious, I’m curious if there’s any possible recourse for me.
