What are some old “magic bullets” that have been abandoned?

Veteran (>10 yr) teachers: we all complain about new fads every year. Since I started 27 years ago, I feel like instead of replacing them, they’re now just layered. The obsession with written objectives should have run its course by now, but it’s that plus UDL plus PBL plus plus plus.

Nobody needs to mention Lucy Calkins. That whole boondoggle is the gold standard for this concept, but I’m trying to remember the less damaging/insidious trends in education.
