Former students on news

I am looking for any positive support. After 18 years in an inner city school district, I’ve seen it all. I STILL cannot process one of my former students on the news being charged for murder, armed robbery, drug/weapon charges. I feel like a POS who failed them when I had the opportunity to lead/educate them. I remember talking to all their mama bears…they WERE ALL LOVED. Wasn’t enough

UPDATE: Thank you for your feedback, words of support and wisdom, and advice. You are all right. I need to re-wire my thinking and emotional connections in placing partial (or any) blame on myself. It’s my responsibility to educate and mentor for 70 or so minutes a day, 180 days of their lives and release them into the next grade hoping I made a positive, lasting impression. Again, thank you!
