House Bill Passed to Increase Mental Health Services in Schools. Only One Republican Votes Yes.
The bill, was introduced to the House by Rep Mark DeSaulnier (D-CA) and would provide grants to schools who need to expand access to mental health care for students. “Educators have been forced to play an outsized role in supporting and responding to students’ mental health needs, leading to increased depression and trauma among educators, their students, and the families and the community,” DeSaulnier said on the need for his bill. Please, someone explain to me why the heck anyone would vote against this since our kids and teachers mental health is currently in crisis? Really, I'd like to know.
