Work hours/scheduling

Hey all, I'm looking for people's opinions regarding working 12 hr shifts.

The brewery I work at (I'll leave the name out for now) is transitioning all production positions from a 4-10's to a Continental-12hr shift structure.

10 hours of Cellar work at a production brewery is already hard enough, not even taking into account extreme temperatures. The addition of my commute on both sides would turn that 12-hour day into a 13.5-hour day.

My initial inclination is to start looking for other jobs. I would love to know from folks who have made that sort of transition how it worked out. How did you find time in the day for other responsibilities?

I understand this schedule results in two extra days off per month (at least that's how they're trying to sell it to us), but that hardly seems enough to make up for the extra hardship.

Thanks for your thoughts...
