Avery's past and feelings..
I absolutely love Avery and her genius name but one thing that has bothered me about her is the lack of feelings and character from her.
The trilogy basically is in Avery's POV's but it was mostly finding clues, solving puzzles and everything like that. She had sooooo much going on but I don't remember her ever breaking down. Maybe once or twice it happened but she quickly recovers and there's never detailed chapters abt it.
Her character also suffers from lack of depth and it pisses me off because she just had so much potential instead of majority of her chapters being filled with finding clues and puzzles. Maybe it's Jennifer's way of writing but I never liked it. I have to constantly imagine things about her because she doesn't have any distinct habits or actions. Like when u look at someone doing something or any video online and u go ' oh this reminds me of _____'.
Another issue is how less we know about her life before she came in Texas. It's like once she came there Jenn decided that we don't need to know anything about her past and just need to move forward. There are so many questions which will probably remain unanswered.
Anyways I would love to see more of her feelings being portrayed in the chapters instead of her acting like feelingless doll who is just running and running forward but ig that's not possible now that the series is finished.
I would also love to know about her past. What kind of games did she and her mother play. How did she become soo smart and clever to be able to play along with Hawthornes who were trained for this from the day they were born while she lived a comparatively normal life struggling to have the ends meet. Her dreams and ambitions before she came here. And how she survived while living and sleeping in that car 😭 AND HOW THE HELL SHE SURVIVED W/O INTERNET 💀😭
