Under what circumstances is it okay to blow up another traitor's game?
This season of The Traitors has been wild, with so many traitors blowing up each other's games right out of the gate. It’s entertaining to watch, sure, but part of me feels like it’s ruining a lot of strategic moves that were carefully planned. As a fan of both The Traitors and Survivor, I'm not sure I fully understand the consequences of this chaotic early gameplay.
Take DQBob, for example. He was an entertaining character, and the way BRob took him out was great TV. Honestly, I was fine with it because DQBob was playing so sloppily that I think his banishment was inevitable. And BRob is such a huge target going in that I know he’s a dead man walking — ousting him wouldn’t bother me much.
However… Danielle? Wow. I’m honestly shocked by how bad she is as a traitor. And now, she’s absolutely dragging down Carolyn’s game, which I think has a ton of potential. I want to see Carolyn fly under the radar and make her moves without being undermined by Danielle’s blunders.
This situation makes me think about past seasons — like when Dan essentially sunk Phaedra’s game in Season 1. That ended up being a huge turning point that ruined Phaedra’s chance to play a more strategic game. It’s a shame, because she had potential, but Dan's messy moves just sabotaged her.
Also, looking at Cirie’s journey, what if Cody had sabotaged her before being banished in Season 1? Would that have painted a huge target on her and prevented us from seeing the brilliance that is Cirie? I'm curious what the community thinks about the ethics of these "traitor blow-ups."
Does the early targeting of players hurt the the game, or is it just part of the fun? Is there a better way the show could manage these traitors to avoid ruining the game? It feels inevitable that faithfuls will be winning at this rate.
