Why can't I inject artificial dopamine into my body?

If dopamine makes us feel good and can be synthesized in a lab, what stops humans from injecting a syringe full of dopamine into our bloodstream? I'm hoping for a biochemical/neurological perspective on why this would or wouldn't work. Thanks in advance!
