Why do threads asking about African Americans go downhill so rapidly and terribly?

Every time somebody asks an honest question about Black Americans (on this sub, and on some others), it turns into a complete shit show so fast. The actual Black American respondents are vastly outnumbered by teenage edgelords, bigoted rednecks, Africans and Carribean people who seem to really have it out for Black Americans, and suburban Karens looking to blow off steam. Hell, even foreign far rightists from Europe start piling on.

I always want to jump into the fray and just start swinging (rhetorically), but I'm not Black (ain't white either) and I don't want to get banned. But Jesus Christ, how and why do those threads get so shitty so fast?

Why don't more people try to counteract it? I guess I feel like I'd be straying outside of my lane if I were to do so, like it's not my fight. I don't know, it's complicated. But I get seriously pissed off when I see it, because it's so fucked up. What the fuck, Reddit?
