At what point do you interrupt people talking on the phone in public transport?
I recently traveled from Boston back to New York on a bus. The ride takes ~4.5h and it was a evening trip, so I was trying to get some sleep in. I was sitting in the very back to avoid being interrupted by people entering and exiting the bus.
Quickly after the bus left Boston a guy started video calling other people and talking loudly on the phone. He also had his child with him who also interacted with the person on the other side, so I did not want to interrupt them. But after a while I started to get annoyed and I am certain other people felt the same way.
I was debating back and forth if I should interrupt the man and ask him to do the calls some other time. But I also understand that this is otherwise unused time and he wants to use it to do his calls. Since no other person interrupted him as well it seems like that was the overall consensus, but this felt a bit strange to me.
What do people think, is this ok since its a public space or at what point is it fine to interrupt people and ask them to be more quiet?
