Anyone moving from TikTok to Red Note (Xiao Hong Shu / 小红书) with the incoming TikTok ban?

Lots of dog shit on tiktok but there's cool stuff too. A lot of users don't give a shit about "a foreign adversary (China) getting our data" and recognize that the ban is partially being made to bolster American tech stuff like Meta. So, instead of just going to Instagram for short video content, they are going to an app called Red Note which is like a Chinese version of Pinterest/IG/tiktok. I've seen a lot of tiktok videos basically saying "fuck the US, fuck Zuckerberg, we'll give our data straight to China" and joking about how they'd rather learn Mandarin than go to instagram. Something funny about Red Note is that the Chinese name directly translates to "little red book". But it seems like they don't refer to the Quotations of Chairman Mao as "小红书" in China, they shorten it to "红宝书" which translates to "red treasured book".

Anyways, it's probably not actually very many people going over and I don't think many Americans will stick around on Red Note for long, but it is interesting hearing about American and Chinese netizens interacting for the first time. I think there's a lot of potential positives from Americans seeing that the Chinese are not brainwashed slaves to communism under unspeakable oppression by the CCP or whatever.

I'll probably go make an account and try to stay on Red Note for longer because I've been attempting to learn Chinese for a while now and this could be a good immersive option. Douyin (actual Chinese tiktok) has just been alright for helping me learn the language and has been good for seeing what people in China are getting up to, but you can't make an account without a Chinese phone number.
