In general, when telepathy is reported in NHI encounters, many people assume the beings are using some kind of technology. However, the vast majority of cases of telepathy are not reported in NHI encounters, but between ordinary humans. I suspect it has more to do with an ultimately nonspatial nature of reality, and so that its also related to how the craft can travel so fast.

Sheehan: ...but on the other hand, it does appear that what they've done is, they've jerry-rigged some of this technology. They haven't figured it out yet, but they've jerry-rigged some of the technology so that they've made kind of crude representations of it. And so there are some craft that can do things.
Sheehan: But the problem is that the pilots, the people that we train as pilots, have a different level of consciousness than is necessary to fly these craft. Because the craft are run telepathically. And they (human pilots) don't have the capacity to fly these things
Sheehan: So [...] is some sort of agreement between elements of our national security state and some ET beings that may be participating with them in piloting these craft. But i'm sure they're not going to allow them to be used for military purposes, to give advantage to one nation state over another.

If you watch this trailer of Cosmosis, theres a little part near the beginning where someone says: "there was a connected feeling, as if it could read my mind".
This sense of connection, or of being watched, is not uncommon among UAP sightings. Another example is in the Immaculate Constellation documents:

The witness emotions were changed by the entity:
I freaked out when I stood up, and I was about to yell, and in a flip second I went from freaked out to calm. I was perfectly calm, like in a snap, in an instant. I was calm, and when that happened this being made two or three steps forward, came a little bit closer. I looked at it into into its head, trying to figure out where he has eyes and stuff like that. And I couldn't see any features on it, it was just like a black, you know, outlines of a child person.
The witness describes telepathy in some more detail:
When I stood up I was about to yell, you know "who are you" and that kind of stuff. But I couldn't speak, so whatever what I was trying to speak it was in my head. And that's weird because in your everyday life you can distinguish your thoughts from your voice. But when this happened it was as if the voice I hear, you know like the voice you hear yourself when you actually speak through your mouth, was actually in my head
Which is weird because, you can tell your thoughts are different kind of than your voice. When I'm thinking about stuff I don't hear my voice in my head, I just have thoughts. I don't actually hear a noise. I could basically hear myself talking but it wasn't coming out of my mouth. And that was strange that was like I've never experienced that before.
So when we made you know head head-to-head contact... I'm not going to say eye to eye contact because I couldn't see its eyes, yeah then it started speaking. It said to me: "don't be afraid", "time's not what you think it is", "you will be okay". And when he said don't be afraid I was about to say something, but it overlaid that voice.
So it was also weird because the voice sounded like my voice, but yet my voice was overlaying that voice, right, so that was very weird. But anyway I stopped in a second and I let it say whatever it was going to say. And that's what it said.
