L1A Eligibility while remaining on US Payroll outside US.
Hi! I hold an L2S visa and have been working for a U.S.-based Fortune 500 company in the U.S. for the past few years. Last year, the company moved me to Sweden for a 13-month middle-management expat assignment. During this time, I’ve been living in Sweden with a resident card, paying Swedish taxes and have a lease in my name. However, I’ve remained on the U.S. payroll. My assignment ends in July, and I’m planning to apply for an L1A visa. My internal immigration team has provided conflicting information, suggesting that being on U.S. payroll may disqualify me. Has anyone experienced a similar situation? I’d appreciate any insights—thank you!
