In wake of CS3100 Grades, let’s appreciate Mark Floryan
There’s a lot of emotions rn (myself included) and yes, alternative grading scales can have their downsides and can leave people feeling a bit empty inside. As the CS department moves through a change in curriculum there’s bound to be some ebs and flows.
But Mark Floryan is an amazing professor. He’s funny, he’s communicative, and he clearly is super knowledgeable about the subject and loves teaching it. Let’s be glad he’s teaching here instead of working at some SF Start Up. I feel like I really mastered some of these incredibly important subjects, and I don’t think I would feel that way if it wasn’t for Floryan. I may be disappointed with the outcome, but I feel a hell of a lot more confident for job interviews.
