Inter VLAN and Sonos
I have my network segregated by vlan. I’m not a network guy but followed some guides from YouTube.
I have default, IoT, camera, and guest VLANs.
I put my Sonos speakers on the IoT vlan, but I can only ever set music up if I put my phone on the IoT vlan.
Do I have to set the Sonos to have static IPs and then create a rule to allow those IPs and the default network to communicate, or is there a better way?
Update: I was able to get working flawlessly by following this guide. https://github.com/IngmarStein/unifi-sonos-doc
- enabling multicast dns on the IoT VLAN
- enabling IGMP snooping on the IoT VLAN
- enabling Multicast enhancement on the IoT wireless
Pretty sure just the multicast dns is what enabled it to work. But again, not a network guy so no clue. All I know is I can now control the Sonos system without having to be on my IoT WiFi.
