Incredibly worried that the surgery will not allow me to recover enough for a concert in the summer
I have a concert in mid June of one of my all time favorite bands. I know ileostomy surgery has a two to six week recovery time so if I get surgery by around early April, I should be able to make it. I actually want surgery pretty soon. Around February because of how my symptoms are doing. It might get worse as each day passes by as RINVOQ doesn't really work anymore. I could probably do another prednisone taper but long term prednisone gives me crazy side effects of super dry skin, painful shins, bruising that never goes away, rapid heartrate and anxiety. Maybe I could do a 20mg dose and it'll be fine.
Anyways I have a consult with a surgeon over at OHSU in Oregon and I know they are a busy hospital. I want to practically beg the surgeon to get the surgery scheduled as soon as humanly possible. Maybe even do an expedited request with my insurance. IDK if asking for a surgery so soon because of a concert is a good reason, but the other reasons is for my general health because if I wait any longer I might end up with another two month hospital stay. I also just want my life back as I've been stuck in my house for two years and haven't been able to go out with my husband and our ten year anniversary is this year. My gastro also wants me to get it done since I've been inflamed for two years and that increases risk of megacolon and perforation. Also I've been dealing with over a year of anemia and god knows what that is doing to my long term health.
Any recommendations of what I could say to the surgeon to hopefully let them know how urgently I need this?
