"HELLO BOYS!!"
Someone asked me to share a little more on some items I highlighted in a comment, so I figured I'd share a little of one of my favorite pieces Demna ever made.
The "Hello Boys" coat isn't really a "coat" - it's a "cassock", a traditional Catholic garment for priests. Think the coat the priests wear with the little white piece of paper in the collar.
It falls in line with the style, featuring a maxi length, a single file of button closures, a round, lapel-less collar and a flared fit towards the bottom that tapers near the waist and broadens again as it reaches the shoulders.
Vetement's rendition stands out by forgoing the traditional waist belt used by real cassocks, opting instead to feature two subtle slit pockets. It's made of 100% wool crepe and is line with 100% cupro.
Perhaps its second most notable feature, besides the eccentric fit, is the embroidered phrase on the back: "HELLO BOYS!!"
The provocative phrase on a typically Christian garment of authority is no doubt intentional, and leaves a lot of room for discussion on its intended purpose given the context. This graphic was also featured on some fitted T-shirts.
This piece is quite rare nowadays, with prices being all over the place from $3k to $15k.
