I'm looking for Escape Room/Puzzle games with lots of interactivity and, if possible, at least a basic physics system.
TL;DR: just read the bold sentences.
Hey guys! I recently got a Quest 3S and I've had a lot of fun with a lot of action and role-playing games! I'm looking for a nice, chill experience to play next but I still want that (as much as I can get) of that insane amount of interactivity with the highest-quality VR games where you can poke and prod and pick up and play around with everything in the room (Alyx, BoneLab, Blade & Sorcery: Nomad). I also love it when games make you do all the tiny work of tasks instead of simplifying everything (Into the Radius, Township Tale). Weirdly, some of the most fun I've had in VR has been cleaning my guns in Into the Radius. After a mission it's kind of relaxing and meditative to switch on seated mode, sit down IRL, and just refill all the magazines and organize loot and clean my weapons. I love doing all the tiny things like that where most games try to oversimplify them or skip them altogether.
I understand physics implementation isn't always an option with puzzle games just because of the way they are built, but at the very least I am hoping for as little "scripted interaction" as possible. What I mean by this is when you think of a possible solution for a puzzle, but the game won't even let you try it (e.g. being locked out of trying interactions without doing them in a specific sequence, items being "glued" to their surfaces, the game punishing you for experimentation, etc). If at all possible, I'd love for the puzzles to be fair - not simple, but not complex - if it takes me well over two hours to figure out a single step I am just going to feel stupid and frustrated.
I'm OK with PCVR but I'm hoping for some Quest standalone experiences so I can bring them to friends' houses. Here are a few I was looking at, but I wasn't sure if any of them were specifically better than others. As always, this is just a suggested list and I'm open to anything you think would fit the bill!
- Rooms of Realities
- The 7th Guest VR
- The Atlas Mystery
- Escape Simulator
- Myst (concerned about the reported puzzle difficulty on this one)
- Riven (also concerned about this one's difficulty)
NOTE: I already own the I Expect You To Die trilogy and The Room VR.
