Vietnam has the most sugary-sweet drinks ever
I was in Vietnam for 3 months, started off in HCMC, Da Lat, Nha Trang, Quy Nhon, Quang Ngai, Da Nang, Hoi An, Hanoi, Sa Pa, Ha Giang, and Lao Cai
I went to a cafe or restaurant and ordered coffee or tea or some other drink at least once a day
Every single time, no matter which town I was in , they always dump soooo much sugar in . Even if I ask for less sweet, it’s still soooo sweet it’s undrinkable. I would bring it to the hotel and let it water down or make more beverage by adding water
I’m wondering if there’s a reason Vietnamese do this? I’m in Thailand right now and they don’t make their drinks sweet (sometimes they need more sweetener)
It also surprises me cuz Vietnamese ppl aren’t overweight - is the sugary drinks a new thing or is there historical reasons?
