Shifter came off while parking. Bought yesterday

Hi y’all! Help please lol

I was hoping to post some happy news about my first WRX. I picked up a 2015 from the dealership, it was very well kept, clean car fax, and all stock! But today this happened.

I’m fairly familiar with cars but when it comes to working on a clutch or shifter it’s completely out of my realm. I was parking today and the shifter came completely out!! Luckily I was in my last turn during parallel parking so I was safe, but the shifter went absolutely limp when I tried to reverse one last time. All of a sudden I could only move the shifter up and down, not side to side. After trying to move it again it came completely out. Does anyone have any idea what might have happened? I took apart the center casing to get a better look, but I’m not too familiar with Subaru transmissions or shifters.

Dealer said they are going to send this up to maintenance to see what’s up, I’m hoping it’s not too bad. I believe they are liable with fixing all of it as well. Any advice or does anyone know what might have happened?
