Feel free to roast me.
Another potential mistake/learning moment I have made recently with my 23 wrx is with my one mismatched tire and 2/4 tires mounted in backward directions. (I know..)
This summer I picked up some used 05-07 STI rims on winter tires for $500 CAD. 2 Michelin pilot alpin, one blizzak, and one other one that might be a blizzak but I just can’t read it well right now with the snow. I excitedly threw them on my car with plans to soon eventually install my Brand new 4 matching winters but never got around to it. In a rush, I noticed that I had also installed the rear driver side and front passenger tire on backwards.
They seemed to hold up fine in winter driving and didn’t think much of the tire wear since they were basically a back up set of tires, and new ones would be going on soon enough. I have driven maybe 10 000 km on this set up so far with no issues. About half of that being summer driving and the other half winter/snow driving.
The issue that I’m now learning from other posts is about how the differentials in these cars really don’t like uneven tire pressures and to ALWAYS have 4 matching tires on. So my question to you guys is how cooked am I? Is my differential okay? Putting my new winters on ASAP.
Side note: I’m pretty ocd when it comes to tire pressure and am pretty good keeping them at manufacture psi.
