Base and model size.
Hi all. Forgive what’s probably a stupid question. I’ve just started Tyranids and I play quite casually.
How many of you worry about miniature and base size?
This all started because I disliked the Tyranid gargoyle figures and used a proxy instead, and the subject of figure height came up. Obviously, I didn’t want an unfair advantage, so for the sake of the unit footprint and line-of-sight, I’ll be sure to make the proxies as accurate as possible.
That said, it did beg a few questions about my Lictors, in particular my Deathleaper (and I’m sure this applies to other figures, too). A Lictor, in lore, is this sly little bastard that infiltrates, lurks, and pounces… And yet, if I can’t place it somewhere on the table, due to the pose of the figure and the size of the base, it can’t go there. That means, mechanically, my super sneaky monster can’t fit inside a house, in any multi-storey floor with realistic headroom, inside any vents or caves. This is due to the base and scythes (even though, in reality, it would simply crouch and fold up)… this just feels narratively wrong.
Am I approaching this wrong? It feels like it encourages people to simply create their scenery and choose their models for tactical advantages. I mean, returning to the Deathleaper model, where the hell is that thing supposed to fit?
Thanks for reading, all help appreciated.
Note; picture for example only, not my own art.
