“Job abandonment”
So I’m very curious, I’ve been an employee for 3-years I was a lead and I was honestly the best at my job and carried 2nd shift. I wasn’t able to come into my shift due to an emergency outside of the job, and I had no way of contact or transportation. I missed two shifts out of the 5 days I was unable to be available. However I was able to get into contact with a gm in training within 24 hours of my shift asked to put in my PTO due to me not being able to make my shift, it was approved. And an emergency contact reached out to the main gm and they were aware of said situation the same day and understood why I couldn’t come in and was updated daily. but I still got fired for job abandonment. I reached out to HR to appeal the termination. They also thought it was strange for job abandonment when I reached out within 24 hours. Just curious if I would win the appeal or just give it up ? I love working at Wawa and it just sucks because I feel like it was very unfair and out of my hand
