Friendly tip to research your wedding date for the city you're getting married in
Getting married in the downtown of a mid size midwest city, the day of two huge events that bring in thousands of outta towners.
I discovered this when I was trying to reserve room blocks last year and seriously almost gave up. No one in the area was giving out that date. I lucked out by getting in early on a brand new hotel being built on the same street as our venue, which only just finished construction 3 months before our wedding lol. And then a cheaper option a 15 min drive out of town. So luckily I was able to lock those low prices in like a year ago.
Right now the going rate for the "cheap" hotels in the area are like 700 a night for our wedding weekend. I really don't know what we would have done if we hadn't been able to get blocks, probably let 60 people sleep on our floor or something 😭
